Relief for families.
Safety for the person.
In home respite gives families planned breaks while a trained support person stays with the adult at home. The focus is supervision, comfort, and safety — while caregivers rest or take care of life.
Available statewide through the Self Determination Program. Families add bttr through their Financial Management Service and independent facilitator.
Minimum of 4 hours per day and at least 1 day per week. Hours are set through your SDP assessment and approved spending plan.
Always aligned with the IPP, person centered plan, and Self Determination spending plan.
Who it is for
What in home respite is made for.
In home respite gives family caregivers time to rest while a trained direct support person stays with the adult at home. It focuses on supervision, comfort, and safety — not coaching or skill building. Hours come from the Self Determination budget and assessment.
Title 17 aligned
Respite is temporary care for family relief. It does not replace skill building, ILS, TDS, behavioral treatment, or clinical care.
Supervision focused
The role of the respite provider is to keep the person safe, comfortable, and supported — not to teach new skills or run sessions.
SDP only
bttr does not offer traditional Regional Center respite. IHR is available exclusively through the Self Determination Program.
